Rajesh Raman

As a Marine Superintendent, Commercial and Operations Manager, he is well-versed with all aspects of ship operations and management, including charter party disputes, ship building and ship management contracts.

Based in Singapore with the Waves Group since 2019, Rajesh has acted as an expert witness in cases involving vessel groundings and charter party disputes. He has participated in investigations of vessel losses, collisions and provided expert nautical opinion in cases of damages to bridges, container cranes and berths. He has firsthand Wreck Removal experience and working within the renewable offshore energy sectors in both Europe and Asia,  Rajesh is experienced within all aspects of construction for offshore wind farms.

Rajesh gained extensive experience of marine casualties within the South-East Asia region while working for one of the International Group P&I Clubs for over 6 years as a dedicated Correspondent and Claims Manager.

He has worked on a wide variety of casualty investigations, including collisions, groundings, pollution incidents, vessel fires and issues related to the carriage of hazardous cargoes. Ship board claims have included sub-optimum performance of cranes, derricks, windlasses, mooring winches and cargo pumps, STS operations and issues related to cargo quantity and contamination.

He has dealt with the legal aspects of casualties, including the appointment of forensic scientists for investigating sources of fires and lawyers for arresting and release from arrests of ships in the region. He has participated in the analysis of incidents to determine liability and the quantum of damage. Rajesh also has experience training senior officers in full-mission Bridge Simulators, Bridge Team and Bridge Resource Management, auditing of onboard procedures to provide insight into potential failures in communications and shortcomings in training which can lead to the loss of situational awareness preceding accidents.
