Tushar has an industry experience of 32 years and has a unique combination to offer (Sailing experience, Legal, offshore, Decommissioning and Wreck removal). A seasoned Class 1 Master Mariner with sailing experience of 22 years on a wide range of trades, an LLM in Admiralty law been instrumental in handling casualty investigations, claims, Expert statements, reviews of charterparties, Experience in offshore wind turbine installations/Inspections and first-hand onsite experience with both complex Wreck removal operations and Offshore Decommissioning projects.

Tushar has a broad base of seagoing experience on Crude Oil Tankers, Bulk Carriers, OBO’s, Reefers, Container Vessels, Self-dischargers and Cattle Carriers. His experience on bulk carriers encompasses a wide range of dry bulk products iron ore fines, nickel ore, various mineral concentrates, Coal, Grain, Cement, and Sulphur. He has extensive experience in the carriage of steel products and the carriage of various project cargoes, including Wind Turbines for the renewable energy industry. He also has experience in offshore wind turbine installations and inspections.
Before joining Waves group, Tushar had been a Maritime Lecturer at Warsash / Solent University delivering lectures to Master Mariners and BSc/MSc students on subjects such as Marine Insurance, Admiralty law, Marine Surveying and Port Management
He held a senior position as General Manager handling global claims for one of the top three container shipping lines, his responsibilities included the investigation of significant marine casualties, collisions, allisions and the management of cargo claims on behalf of Owners and P&I Clubs.
He also has extensive experience in conducting Marine warranty surveys, Classification, On-hire, Off-hire, Pre-purchase surveys, P&I inspections, Project cargo and Container and Reefer cargo surveys.
His professional education as a Master Mariner and with a Master’s in Admiralty law, Member of the Institute of Chartered Ship Broker (PQE) and his education and practice as a surveyor along with education in chartering and ship brokering provide him with valuable insight and a 360-degree view of the matter. His experience facilitates an understanding of the gap analysis in the operational environment and human element factors.
